The Endangered Wolf Center is a nonprofit wildlife conservation facility located in Eureka, Missouri, near St. Louis, founded in 1971 by naturalist Marlin Perkins and his wife Carol. The center is dedicated to preserving and reintroducing critically endangered canid species, housing up to eight species including Mexican wolves, American red wolves, maned wolves, African painted dogs, swift foxes, fennec foxes, Arctic foxes, and red foxes. It has maintained more Mexican gray wolves than any other managed breeding facility, and animals born here have been successfully reintroduced to North Carolina, Arizona, and New Mexico. Visitors can join daytime educational tours or experience the thrilling evening wolf howls, all by reservation, guided by knowledgeable staff through approximately a mile of natural habitat paths.
