Manila Zoo, formally the Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden, is a 5.5-hectare public zoo located in Malate, Manila, Philippines. Originally opened on July 25, 1959, the zoo recently underwent a major rehabilitation project costing approximately 1.7 billion pesos and reopened on November 21, 2022, emerging as a reimagined wildlife and conservation destination. The zoo is home to over 1,000 animals representing a wide array of mammals, birds, reptiles, and aquatic life. Highlights include the newly renovated Philippine Eagle exhibit, which spotlights one of the country's most iconic and critically endangered birds, as well as educational programs and interactive exhibits promoting awareness of endangered species and biodiversity. Collaborating with conservation organizations, Manila Zoo aims to connect visitors of all ages with the natural world while supporting ongoing wildlife protection efforts in the Philippines.
