The Thai Elephant Conservation Center (TECC) is Thailand's only government-operated elephant center, established in 1993 by the Royal Forest Department and situated in Hang Chat District, Lampang Province, along the Lampang-Chiang Mai Highway. Set on 300 acres, the center is home to over 50 elephants and houses the world's first elephant hospital, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and long-term care of Thailand's national animal. Daily shows at 10:00, 11:00, and 13:30 present the intelligence and skills of elephants through traditional log-dragging demonstrations, musical performances, and artistic painting. Visitors can also watch elephant bathing sessions and enjoy guided elephant rides, making the center a meaningful and immersive experience for families and conservation-minded travelers.
