Karatay Belediyesi Zoo is Konya's first and only zoo, operated by the Karatay Municipality in the Karatay district of Konya, Turkey. The Bald Ibis Bird Protection Area in Birecik, Şanlıurfa, Turkey, is a dedicated conservation centre established in 1977 to protect the critically endangered Northern Bald Ibis. Home to a semi-wild colony of several hundred birds, the facility releases its charges each year in late winter to breed on nest box ledges and cliff faces within the compound before they range freely across the surrounding Euphrates Valley landscapes. The centre has been widely credited with saving the species from extinction and welcomes visitors interested in birdwatching and wildlife conservation, offering educational programmes that highlight the unique ecological importance of this ancient and striking bird.
