Taiz Zoo is a public zoological garden located in Ta'izz, in the south-western highlands of Yemen. The zoo is notable for housing a remarkable collection of wildlife, including Arabian leopards — a critically endangered species with only an estimated 200 individuals remaining in the wild — alongside lions, hyenas, caracals, vultures and other birds of prey, monkeys, baboons, porcupines, and a variety of other animals. The zoo's collection of Arabian leopards is considered among the most significant in the region and plays an important role in raising awareness about this rare species. Despite the considerable challenges posed by ongoing conflict in Yemen, local organisations and international supporters have worked to ensure the animals receive care and sustenance.
