The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea is a not-for-profit aquarium and marine learning centre located on the waterfront in Sidney, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island, situated on the traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. As Vancouver Island's largest aquarium and the only public aquarium in Greater Victoria, the centre celebrates the extraordinary biodiversity of the Salish Sea, a region home to 37 species of marine mammals, 172 bird species, and 247 fish species. Interactive and self-guided exhibits highlight endangered southern resident orcas, Pacific salmon, and the more than 125 at-risk species found in this ecologically significant region.
