Grapeland Safari was an 81-acre safari park and petting zoo experience located in Grapeland, Texas, featuring exotic animals from around the world. Visitors were able to encounter zebras, Dromedary and Bactrian camels, axis deer, emus, yaks, American bison, and a Sulcata tortoise native to the Sahara Desert. The park allowed guests to hand-feed animals from their vehicles and interact up close with friendly creatures in the petting zoo area. While the drive-thru safari has since ceased regular public operation, Grapeland Safari continues to maintain a ranch specializing in quality zebras and camels, and its memorable blend of Texas countryside and exotic wildlife made it a distinctive attraction in the Houston-area region.
