Founded in November 2008 and covering around 9 hectares, the reserve began with five bison imported from Switzerland, Austria, and Italy, and the herd has since grown to more than 30 specimens. The first bison were imported from Poland in 1970, and the reserve has since participated in a national repopulation programme for the Carpathian Mountains. In addition to bison, the reserve is home to Carpathian deer, fallow deer, mouflons, foxes, a bear, a wolf, and various bird species. A dedicated Bison Museum and a 200-meter suspended wooden walkway at 15 meters height allow visitors to safely observe the wildlife and surrounding forest ecosystem.

Zooparc Greencodru is a spacious wildlife park covering 100,000 square meters in the village of Codru, Bihor County, Romania, nestled at the foothills of the Codru Moma Mountains near Oradea.
