Expanzoo, formally known as Expansión Centro Educativo Recreacional, is an interactive contact zoo located at the historic Caicaguana estate in Lomas de la Lagunita, El Hatillo municipality, Caracas, Venezuela. Open since 2000, the zoo is home to 347 animals spanning a broad variety of birds and mammals, including zebras, camels, flamingos, ostriches, monkeys, parrots, mini pigs, ponies, bunnies, snakes, and cows, among many others. Visitors can touch and feed the animals directly, with entry including a bag of carrots for feeding. The facility was founded with an inclusive mission, providing a welcoming environment for children with disabilities and offering free admission for them on weekends. Expanzoo is a family-oriented destination that combines hands-on animal interaction with an educational approach to wildlife appreciation in the heart of Caracas.
