Akamba Tropical House and Aviary is a unique wildlife attraction located at a heritage garden centre in Shirley, Solihull, in the West Midlands. The facility features two distinct wildlife experiences: the Akamba Bird Walk, an African-themed aviary showcasing a wide range of exotic birds including parrots, macaws, finches, and canaries, where visitors receive identification cards to learn about each species and its African homeland; and the Tropical House, an immersive reptile encounter offering the chance to view and handle snakes, lizards, frogs, and other exotic species. Additional residents include meerkats and lemurs. Set within a distinctive African-inspired garden centre with a restaurant, cafe, and gift shop, Akamba provides an accessible and engaging exotic wildlife experience in the heart of the West Midlands.
