Apenheul

Apenheul is a world-famous primate park set within a lush forest in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, attracting approximately 500,000 visitors annually. The park is home to 34 species of apes, monkeys, and lemurs, including gorillas, orangutans, gibbons, and capuchin monkeys, many of which roam freely alongside visitors in walk-through zones. An 11-meter observation tower provides sweeping views over the largest gorilla family group in the Netherlands, while a refreshed capuchin monkey area allows intimate encounters with around 60 free-roaming individuals. Daily feeding presentations and keeper talks enrich the visit with educational content, and special tracking cards help families spot all the resident species. Beyond entertainment, Apenheul conducts active scientific research to support wild primate conservation, making it a park where fun and purpose go hand in hand.
