Aquarium Nong Khai, also known as the Sirindhorn Aquarium, is the largest freshwater aquarium in northeastern Thailand, located on the campus of Khon Kaen University in Mueang Nong Khai District, Nong Khai Province, near the Mekong River. Established in 2004 as a joint initiative between Nong Khai Province and the university to conserve Mekong River fish species and promote regional tourism, the facility displays more than 150 aquatic species across its exhibits. The centrepiece is a 34-metre-long underwater tunnel where visitors walk beneath fish swimming overhead, with a highlights tank showcasing giant Mekong catfish and other iconic river species. Daily scuba feeding performances add entertainment value. The aquarium is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
