Austin Zoo

Austin Zoo is a nonprofit rescue zoo located in southwestern Travis County, Texas, near Austin. Housing over 300 animals from more than 100 species, the zoo provides permanent sanctuary primarily to exotic animals rescued from private owners, other facilities, or legal proceedings. Highlights include African lions, Bengal tigers, cougars, capybaras, black bears, ring-tailed lemurs, three species of monkeys, and a Galapagos tortoise. Visitors can explore the Primate Palace, Reptile House, Tortoise Barn, and Dairy Barn, where they can feed goats and other farm animals. Spread across 54 acres, Austin Zoo emphasizes rescue, conservation, and education, with programming designed to connect the community with wildlife year-round.
