Bahawalpur Zoo

Bahawalpur Zoo is one of Pakistan's oldest and largest zoological gardens, established in 1942 on 25 acres in Bahawalpur, Punjab, Pakistan — the fourth largest zoo in the country. The zoo houses an impressive collection of wildlife including lions, tigers, and hyenas in moated enclosures, along with blackbuck, hog deer, nilgai, chinkara, red deer, and mouflon in large paddocks. The bird section features pelicans, cranes, geese, and peafowl around a scenic pond, while a reptile section includes crocodiles and spur-thighed tortoises. A notable aquarium, a zoological museum with stuffed specimens, and a storied history of breeding threatened species such as Asiatic lion, Asian black bear, Bengal tiger, and blackbuck make this zoo a significant destination for wildlife education and conservation in southern Punjab.
