Bear Hollow Zoo

Bear Hollow Zoo is a free wildlife sanctuary and small zoo located within Memorial Park's hardwood forest in Athens, Georgia, managed by the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department. Home to more than 35 non-releasable native animals, the zoo provides a natural habitat for species that have been injured or are otherwise unable to survive in the wild, including black bears, bobcats, white-tailed deer, river otters, owls, reptiles, and amphibians. A Reptile House at the center of the zoo opens to the public on weekends, featuring additional reptile and amphibian exhibits. Educational wildlife talks, hands-on activities, and interactive demonstrations help visitors of all ages learn about Georgia's native species and the importance of wildlife conservation. Bear Hollow Zoo is a beloved and accessible community destination in the Classic City.
