Beddington Farmlands

Beddington Farmlands is a 161-hectare urban nature reserve located in Sutton, South London, situated within the Wandle Valley a short distance from Croydon. Formerly a sewage works and landfill site, it is being progressively restored into a flagship nature reserve with a diverse range of habitats. The site is recognised as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation and Metropolitan Open Land, and has been an important birdwatching destination since the late 19th century. Visitors and wildlife enthusiasts can observe species such as white stork, tufted duck, common kingfisher, lapwing, and green woodpecker among the more than 2,500 species recorded here. The volunteer-driven Beddington Farmlands Bird Group occasionally offers guided tours, making this an ideal destination for birdwatchers and nature lovers close to central London.
