Bohol Tarsier Conservation Area

The Bohol Tarsier Conservation Area is a 167-acre forest reserve and dedicated wildlife sanctuary located in the town of Bilar, Bohol, Philippines, established to protect and preserve the critically important Philippine tarsier (Tarsius syrichta). These tiny, wide-eyed primates are among the world's smallest and most ancient, classified as near threatened by the IUCN, and the conservation area serves as a vital sanctuary for their survival in the wild. Knowledgeable guides lead visitors on gentle walks through the natural forest, where tarsiers can be spotted perched on branches or nestled in tree hollows in their native habitat. Visitors are asked to maintain respectful distances and to avoid flash photography, as the animals are highly sensitive to noise and light. Open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, the conservation area is one of the most visited and iconic eco-tourism destinations on Bohol Island.
