Bournemouth Aviary is a beloved free-to-visit attraction situated at Pines Walk on Westover Road in Bournemouth, with a history spanning more than 50 years. The Cooper-Thompson Rescue Aviary, which opened in 2022, replaced the original 1980s structure with a modern facility designed to provide greater flight space and a 360-degree viewing experience for visitors. The aviary is home to approximately 150 to 200 tropical birds, including parrots, budgerigars, finches, and other rescued species that have been rehomed from owners unable to care for them. Several resident species breed successfully within the aviary. Open to the public at all times at no cost, the aviary is most lively during the mornings and late afternoons when the birds are at their most active and vocal, making it a charming and accessible wildlife experience in the heart of Bournemouth.
