Brookfield Zoo

Brookfield Zoo Chicago is a world-class zoological park spanning more than 200 acres in Brookfield, Illinois, operated by the Chicago Zoological Society and owned by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County. Home to over 2,000 animals representing approximately 511 species, the zoo features landmark exhibits including one of the largest indoor primate habitats in North America, the Dolphin Bay show venue, a children's zoo, and the Hamill Family Play Zoo, which recently welcomed resident koalas. Opened in 1934, Brookfield Zoo was a pioneer in using naturalistic moats instead of cages and was the first U.S. zoo to display giant pandas.
