Calderglen Country Park and Zoo

Calderglen Country Park and Zoo is a well-loved family destination located in East Kilbride, near Glasgow in South Lanarkshire. The zoo, which opened in 1982, spans approximately an acre within the park's 100-plus acres of scenic woodlands and gardens, and is home to over 50 animal species, some of which are critically endangered. Residents include meerkats, wallabies, ring-tailed coatis, otters, monkeys, kookaburras, burrowing owls, and more, housed alongside a tropical conservatory. Visitors can enjoy interactive animal experiences including meerkat and skunk encounters with feeding opportunities. The zoo holds BIAZA membership and is involved in conservation work including restoring native harvest mouse populations. Complementing the zoo are ornamental gardens, nature trails, a toddlers' play area, adventure play, and a courtyard cafe.
