Cwmbale Wildlife Education Centre

Cwmbale Wildlife Education Centre is a conservation and education facility established on the slopes of Wanale Ridge near Mbale in eastern Uganda, developed through a partnership between the local community and the Pont Mbale charitable organisation. The centre houses animals including lions, zebras, waterbucks, ostriches, and peacocks, many of which were transferred from the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre in Entebbe. Its primary mission is to provide children and communities across the Mbale region with hands-on encounters with wildlife, fostering a conservation ethic and helping to dispel harmful myths about local species such as chameleons. The interactive approach encourages direct engagement with animals rather than passive observation, making it a valuable educational resource for schools and visitors in eastern Uganda.
