Dartmoor Zoo

Dartmoor Zoo is a 33-acre woodland zoo and registered charity nestled on the borders of Dartmoor National Park, just 15 minutes from Plymouth in Devon. The zoo is home to the largest collection of big cats in the South West of England, including Amur tigers, African lions, Amur leopards, cheetahs, lynx, and bears, alongside meerkats, wolves, tapirs, capybaras, raccoons, monkeys, and a fascinating collection of bugs and reptiles. Conservation and education are central to the zoo's mission, with active breeding programmes for Amur leopards, Asian short-clawed otters, and Carpathian lynx. Daily talks, animal encounters, and feeding sessions provide engaging experiences for families, and the site is famously known as the inspiration for the Hollywood film We Bought a Zoo.
