DeYoung Family Zoo is a privately owned zoo located in Wallace, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, open seasonally from May through the end of October. Home to over 400 animals representing species from around the world, the zoo is especially known for its impressive collection of big cats, including tigers, white tigers, lions, cougars, and leopards. Visitors can also meet otters, sloths, monkeys, tortoises, capybaras, and an open petting zoo area featuring llamas, a horse, and other friendly animals. The zoo participates in rehabilitation of local wildlife such as white-tailed deer and raccoons, and offers hands-on encounters including bottle feeding baby animals.
