Dolphin Research Center

The Dolphin Research Center is a nonprofit marine mammal research and education facility located on Grassy Key in Marathon, Florida, set across 90,000 square feet of natural saltwater lagoons. Home to approximately 28 bottlenose dolphins and a number of California sea lions, the center is one of the most respected dolphin research institutions in the world, with a history tracing back to the Santini Porpoise School founded in 1958. Researchers at the facility study dolphin cognition, behavior, and husbandry, publishing findings that contribute to the global understanding of marine mammals. The center is open to the public and offers a range of immersive programs, including dolphin swims, guided tours of the lagoons, an Ultimate Trainer for the Day experience, and a Researcher Experience allowing guests to shadow the scientific team. A dedicated conservation and education mission makes the Dolphin Research Center a meaningful and memorable destination in the Florida Keys.
