Dunrovin Exotic Animal Sanctuary was a beloved nonprofit exotic animal refuge located in Vass, Moore County, North Carolina, situated about 60 miles south of Raleigh in the state's scenic sandhills region. Over the course of seven years the sanctuary rehomed more than 200 animals, primarily tropical birds including macaws, parakeets, and cockatoos, alongside a vervet monkey, a wallaby, a Patagonian cavy, tortoises, and various reptiles. Licensed by the USDA as an exhibitor, the sanctuary offered free public access and was dedicated to providing permanent, caring homes for exotic animals whose owners could no longer keep them. The sanctuary operated out of the Dunrovin Country Store property and closed to the public in November 2024, with all animals successfully rehomed to new caretakers.
