Dushanbe Zoo

Dushanbe Zoo is the national zoological park of Tajikistan, established in 1960 and officially opened in 1961 on Ismoili Somoni Avenue in the capital city of Dushanbe. Spanning 6.7 hectares, the zoo is home to approximately 130 animal species organised across dedicated sections for predators, hoofed animals, primates, birds, reptiles, and fish. A notable feature is an extensive terrarium housing over 18 varieties of snakes. The zoo maintains active breeding programmes, including successful lion breeding in captivity, and participates in international conservation partnerships with zoological institutions across Europe and the former Soviet republics, offering visitors an educational and engaging wildlife experience in the heart of Central Asia.
