
East London Zoo is a historic public zoo located within Queens Park Zoological Gardens in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa, and has been welcoming visitors since 1936. Managed by Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, the zoo is home to over 300 animals representing more than 50 mammal species, 38 bird species, and 7 reptile species. Notable residents include white and brown lions, jaguars, tigers, African wild dogs, chimpanzees, ostriches, emus, hornbills, and a colorful variety of parrots. The grounds feature striking indigenous and exotic vegetation, a children's play area, and picnic spots, making it a popular family outing. The facility is wheelchair and pram friendly and is open seven days a week from 9 AM to 4 PM.
