East Texas Elephant Experience is a one-of-a-kind wildlife encounter located at 14041 TX-105 in Cut and Shoot, Texas, just outside Conroe in the Greater Houston area. The facility is home to three African elephants named Jeanie, Krissy, and Paige, each with a remarkable backstory as survivors whose parents were poached for ivory in the late 1990s, and who have been in the care of a dedicated multi-generational family with over 50 years of elephant expertise. Visitors enjoy an up-close, approximately 90-minute guided experience with the elephants, said to be one of the only opportunities in the United States to interact personally with African elephants. The facility also houses Dromedary camels, a Grants zebra named Mr. Z, and a small herd of pygmy goats. Educational programs offered since 1980 make this an inspiring destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone fascinated by these magnificent giants.
