Fernvalley Wildlife Centre is the most northerly wildlife centre in the United Kingdom, located in Tingwall on Mainland Orkney, Scotland. Opened in 2017, the centre specialises in providing a safe and loving forever home to animals that have been abused, abandoned, or neglected, working in collaboration with organisations such as the SSPCA, RSPCA, and Reptilia Rescue. Visitors can encounter a fascinating range of animals including ring-tailed lemurs, meerkats, raccoon dogs, snakes, iguanas, terrapins, degus, and a variety of birds, all housed in thoughtfully designed enclosures. A welcoming tearoom serves homebaked goods and light lunches, and features a viewing window overlooking the lemur enclosure. Open year-round on selected days, Fernvalley Wildlife Centre offers a distinctive and warmly personal wildlife experience that is well worth seeking out during a visit to the Orkney Islands.
