Great Lakes Aquarium

The Great Lakes Aquarium, located on the Duluth, Minnesota waterfront in Canal Park, is one of the few aquariums in the United States dedicated predominantly to freshwater ecosystems. Opened in 2000, it houses 205 species of fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals across exhibits that highlight the Great Lakes basin and other global freshwater environments. The beloved Otter Cove exhibit is home to two North American river otters, while the Amazing Amazon gallery brings the diverse aquatic life of the world's largest river to Minnesota. The Unsalted Seas exhibit, opened in 2016, spans 3,500 square feet and explores the world's great lakes and their significance as freshwater resources. This educational waterfront attraction offers a unique and engaging experience for families and nature enthusiasts.
