Hertenkamp Heerhugowaard is a cherished community deer park that has been a landmark in Heerhugowaard, Netherlands, since 1956. When the municipality proposed relocating the deer in 2018, local residents rallied to form the Stichting Vrienden van Hertenkamp Heerhugowaard (Friends of Hertenkamp Foundation), successfully securing the park's continuation with at least twenty years of building use rights. The foundation covers operating costs and oversees the welfare of the deer, which returned to their traditional home in late 2018 following renovations supported by Stichting Nut. The park remains a beloved green space where families and community members of all ages can observe and enjoy deer in a natural setting at the heart of Heerhugowaard.
