Howletts Wild Animal Park

Howletts Wild Animal Park is a 90-acre wildlife sanctuary near Canterbury in Kent, operated by The Aspinall Foundation charity with a powerful focus on conservation and species reintroduction. The park is home to over 390 animals including the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, western lowland gorillas, tigers, leopards, rhinos, and lemurs, as well as Kent's only giant anteaters. A walk-through lemur enclosure and the Ice Age prehistoric creatures exhibition are visitor highlights, and expert-led animal encounters offer behind-the-scenes access with the park's dedicated keepers. Every visit directly funds The Aspinall Foundation's international work, which has seen over 75 gorillas successfully released to the wild with 35-plus subsequent wild births, alongside significant Indonesian primate reintroductions and African black rhino conservation programmes. Free animal talks, playgrounds, and dining venues make Howletts a deeply rewarding family day out.
