Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters

Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters, located in Anna Bay in the Port Stephens region of New South Wales, is an innovative marine wildlife facility spanning 1,000 square metres and containing two million litres of water across two lagoon environments. Home to 86 species including zebra sharks, reef sharks, rays, sea turtles, moray eels, and a variety of fish, the facility offers visitors a range of interactive experiences from general entry with hand-feeding opportunities to wading encounters, snorkelling adventures, and expert-guided keeper experiences. The Fingil and Tropical lagoons are designed for close-up animal observation alongside educational presentations. Conservation is central to the attraction's mission, with an on-site Sea Shelter programme rescuing and rehabilitating sea turtles and ongoing support for marine protection research. School programmes, educational resources, and year-round activities make Irukandji an engaging destination for families and wildlife enthusiasts throughout the Hunter Valley and beyond.
