Las Delicias Zoo

Las Delicias Zoo, formally known as Parque Zoológico Las Delicias, is the oldest zoological institution in Venezuela, founded in 1915 and located at the northern edge of Maracay in Aragua State, at an elevation of 400 meters. Covering a substantial area of verdant parkland, the zoo is home to 854 animals representing more than 80 species, organized into dedicated sections for primates, big cats, reptiles, birds, and large hoofed animals. The collection features native Venezuelan fauna including jaguars, hawks, crocodiles, macaws, Orinoco caimans, harpy eagles, and Andean condors, alongside internationally notable animals such as white lions. The zoo runs active conservation breeding programs for endangered species and offers visitors the opportunity to interact with animals in thoughtfully designed exhibits. Open Wednesday through Sunday, Las Delicias Zoo remains an important cultural, educational, and conservation landmark in Venezuela.
