Miami Seaquarium

The Miami Seaquarium was a historic 38-acre oceanarium located on Virginia Key in Biscayne Bay, near downtown Miami, Florida, and was one of the oldest continuously operating marine parks in the United States from its founding in 1955 until its permanent closure in October 2025. During its seven decades of operation, the facility was home to a wide variety of marine life including dolphins, sea lions, sea turtles, sharks, manta rays, fish, birds, reptiles, flamingos, bamboo sharks, and penguins. The park offered daily marine animal shows, overnight camp programs, scout events, and swim-with-dolphins experiences that delighted generations of visitors. Following the closure, Miami-Dade County and the Dolphin Company announced plans for a future development of the site, including a new aquarium without marine mammals, marking the end of an era for this beloved South Florida landmark.
