Mini Zoo del Juan XXIII is a family-run wildlife refuge and mini-zoo that has operated for nearly three decades in the Quiteria neighborhood of Encarnacion, in Paraguay's Itapua department. Situated on Route 1 approximately 6 km from the city center, the zoo serves as a sanctuary for native animals that have been rescued and have difficulties surviving in the wild. The collection includes toucans, macaws, parrots, jaguars, ocelots, tapirs, monkeys, and turtles, allowing visitors to observe these remarkable species up close in a naturalistic setting surrounded by lush vegetation. Open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, the mini zoo welcomes school excursions, family outings, and anyone keen to learn about Paraguay's native fauna and the importance of wildlife rescue and care.
