Paraguana Zoo

The Paraguana Zoo, also known as the Parque Ambiental y Zoológico de Paraguaná, is a private nonprofit zoological and environmental institution located in the Cardón community of Punta Cardón on the Paraguaná Peninsula in Falcón State, Venezuela. Founded in 1985 and covering approximately six hectares, the zoo is dedicated primarily to Venezuelan fauna and functions as an animal refuge, ex situ conservation center, and wildlife shelter. It houses around 315 animals representing 60 native species, including foxes, spider monkeys, armadillos, spectacled bears, pumas, anacondas, parrots, and peacock bass in its lagoon. The facility boasts notable conservation achievements as the first Venezuelan zoo to achieve captive breeding of the Helmeted Curassow, and has successful programs for spectacled bears and green macaws, making it an important center for regional biodiversity preservation.
