Nestled in the heart of Appleton, Wisconsin, Plamann Park Children's Farm stands as a beacon of rural charm and educational fun. Established in 1989, this delightful farm offers a slice of country life to the residents of Outagamie County and beyond. With a mission to connect the community to agricultural roots, the farm has become a cherished destination for families and nature enthusiasts.

A Free Attraction for Educational Fun

The Children's Farm at Plamann Park is not just any farm—it's a place where education and enjoyment go hand in hand. Open to the public at no cost, the farm provides a unique opportunity for over 10,000 children and adults annually to encounter farm animals up close. From the tender age of calves and kid goats to the playful piglets and lambs, the farm is home to young animals that captivate the hearts of visitors.

Engaging Activities for All Ages

The farm is a wonderland for kids and kids at heart, featuring a variety of activities that cater to all ages. The bird trail and cow path offer a chance to explore the outdoors, while the playground and swing set area provide endless entertainment. The Cow Path, shaped like a Holstein cow and stretching 1,745 feet, is a testament to the creativity and dedication of the local community, having been developed as an eagle scout project.

Interaction with Animals

Interaction with the farm animals is encouraged, with visitors able to pet the animals from outside their pens. This hands-on experience is made safe and enjoyable for both visitors and animals, as the farm ensures that all animals are on special diets provided by their owners, and thus, feeding by visitors is rightly discouraged.

A Seasonal Haven for Farm Animals

The farm operates seasonally, opening its gates for the summer on May 28th, 2023, with daily hours from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. Animals are loaned from area farmers and cared for by trained staff, ensuring they return to their homes in September healthy and well-loved.

Community Support and Sustainability

The Children's Farm thrives on community support and donations, which have been instrumental in providing shelter, food, and veterinary care for the animals. The farm seeks to foster a list of generous farmers willing to loan young animals and donate supplies like hay or straw bales. Monetary donations are also crucial, with about $1,000.00 needed each season to cover feed costs.

A Kiosk of Gratitude

A kiosk by the barn serves as a board of thanks, displaying the names of all the animals, their owners, and the generous donors who contribute feed, straw, or hay. This display is a humble nod to the community's spirit and the collective effort to keep this attraction free and accessible to all.

Plamann Park Children's Farm is more than just a farm; it's a community treasure that educates, entertains, and connects people to the agricultural heritage of Wisconsin. It's a place where memories are made, and the simplicity of farm life is celebrated. The farm awaits your visit, ready to offer an experience that's both grounding and delightful.
