Plantasia Tropical Zoo

Plantasia Tropical Zoo is a distinctive indoor tropical attraction located within the Parc Tawe retail park in Swansea, Wales. Opened in 1990, the large glasshouse encompasses two climate zones — a lush tropical rainforest and an arid zone — housing over 5,000 plants from more than 600 species, including palms, bananas, giant bamboo, orchids, and bromeliads. The zoo element features a fascinating array of animals such as meerkats, crested geckos, tarantulas, red-bellied piranhas, green-winged macaws, white-cheeked turacos, Burmese pythons, and a variety of amphibians and reptiles. Special exhibits include the Giants of the Past prehistoric life display with augmented reality, the Vital Venoms and Practical Poisons interpretive space, and an Alfred Russel Wallace exhibition.
