Port Townsend Marine Science Center

The Port Townsend Marine Science Center is a beloved marine education facility located at Fort Worden State Park and a downtown Flagship Landing building in Port Townsend, Washington, that has introduced hundreds of thousands of visitors to the wonders of the Salish Sea since 1982. The aquarium features four large touch tanks and numerous viewing tanks filled with native marine species from the Salish Sea, including sea cucumbers, anemones, sea stars, flatfish, rockfish, sculpins, sea urchins, limpets, chitons, and barnacles in naturalistic habitat settings. A Natural History Exhibit showcases a fully articulated orca skeleton named Hope alongside comparative marine mammal skeletons and displays on coastal geology and aquatic birds. The center combines hands-on marine discovery with natural history education, making it a rewarding destination for families and ocean enthusiasts exploring the Olympic Peninsula.
