Potawatomi Zoo

Potawatomi Zoo is a 23-acre zoological park in South Bend, Indiana, founded in 1921 and recognized as one of the oldest zoos in the state. Home to over 400 animals, the zoo participates in more than 56 Species Survival Plans and notably became the first accredited zoo in Indiana to exhibit okapi when it welcomed the endangered forest-dwelling relative of the giraffe in 2017. The collection spans Amur tigers, African lions, snow leopards, red pandas, Southern White rhinos, okapi, African wild dogs, and diverse primates, with highlights including giraffe feeding, a 1/3-scale CP Huntington Locomotive train, and the hand-crafted Endangered Species Carousel. Located in a welcoming park setting, Potawatomi Zoo is a cherished family destination and an important contributor to regional conservation efforts in northern Indiana.
