Sequoia Park Zoo

Sequoia Park Zoo, located within the ancient redwood groves of Eureka, California, is the oldest zoo in the state, founded in 1907, and one of the smallest accredited zoos in the nation. The seven-acre zoo houses approximately 200 vertebrates representing around 54 species, including red pandas, flamingos, bush dogs, yaks, Patagonian maras, Chacoan peccaries, and rheas, alongside a walk-in free-flight aviary home to scarlet ibis, grey parrots, and a variety of other birds. A barnyard exhibit introduces visitors to domesticated animals such as goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, and donkeys, while the Secrets of the Forest building explores the ecology of the surrounding redwood habitat. The acclaimed Redwood Sky Walk, the longest skywalk in the western United States, offers a breathtaking canopy-level perspective of the majestic old-growth forest. Admission to the zoo is free.
