Serendip Sanctuary

Serendip Sanctuary is a peaceful wildlife reserve near Lara, just outside Geelong in Victoria, managed by Parks Victoria. Set within the open grassy woodlands and wetlands of the Western Volcanic Plains, the sanctuary is home to over 150 bird species, Eastern Grey Kangaroos, wallabies, emus, and a variety of reptiles that can be observed in natural surroundings. Visitors can explore via walking trails, bird hides, and a new Sensory Garden featuring five accessible nature spaces, making the site welcoming for people of all abilities. The sanctuary operates daily educational programs for school groups and families. Conservation efforts at Serendip focus on habitat restoration and the management of threatened species, in partnership with organisations such as Zoos Victoria. Picnic areas with barbecue facilities add to the family-friendly atmosphere.
