Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

Sir Bani Yas Island is a remarkable wildlife reserve and nature destination located off the coast of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, originally established as a Royal Nature Reserve in 1971 by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Today the island is home to more than 11,000 animals from 30 species, many of which are critically endangered or vulnerable, including one of the world's largest herds of Arabian oryx numbering over 700 individuals, along with sand gazelles, Somali ostriches, giraffes, cheetahs, and dolphins.
