Staglands Wildlife Reserve and Café is a beloved wildlife park and animal reserve established in 1972 and located in the scenic Akatarawa Valley, approximately 20 kilometres north of Upper Hutt near Wellington, New Zealand. The reserve is home to an eclectic mix of native birds — including whio, kea, pāteke, scaup, and grey teal — alongside rare domestic breeds such as kunekune pigs, Auckland Island pigs, Arapawa Island goats, and Clydesdale horses, as well as fallow deer. Guests are encouraged to walk freely among the animals, feed them, and spend relaxed time in a natural bush setting. An onsite café offers refreshments, making Staglands a complete family day out in the greater Wellington region.
