Sunrise Children's Zoo is a charming seasonal petting zoo located at 250 Ansborough Avenue on the National Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo, Iowa. In operation since 1974 and supported by the Sunrise Exchange Club of Waterloo, the zoo invites families to connect with a variety of friendly farm animals including goats, sheep, cows, donkeys, alpacas, chickens, ducks, pigs, and peacocks. Open from May through September, the zoo offers free admission with an optional small fee to purchase animal feed, making it an affordable and enjoyable outing for children and families throughout the Cedar Valley region. The zoo's relaxed, hands-on atmosphere fosters a love of animals and nature in a welcoming community setting.
