The Jackson Zoo

The Jackson Zoo is a historic wildlife institution established in 1919 and situated within the scenic 110-acre Livingston Park in Jackson, Mississippi. Home to over 120 species and approximately 250 individual animals, the zoo is organized into immersive themed areas including the African Rainforest, African Savannah, Asian Garden, and Wilderness Mississippi. Visitors can encounter southern white rhinoceros, Grevy's zebra, Sumatran tigers, Asian black bears, American alligators, cougars, and river otters, among many others. The zoo supports eleven endangered species and participates in multiple Species Survival Programs, underscoring its commitment to conservation.
