Ti Point Reptile Park in Leigh, on the Matakana Coast north of Auckland, is New Zealand's only zoo dedicated entirely to reptiles, showcasing over 40 native and exotic species. Visitors can encounter American alligators, green iguanas, lace monitors, dragons, turtles, tortoises, numerous lizard species, tarantulas, and New Zealand's ancient tuatara, all housed in enclosures set amongst native bush with views over the Hauraki Gulf. The park represents all four orders of reptiles (with the exception of snakes, which are prohibited by law in New Zealand, and sea turtles), making it a fascinating and educational experience for families and reptile enthusiasts. Guided tours offer insights into reptile conservation and the importance of protecting these often misunderstood creatures in their natural environments.
