Tilgate Nature Centre

Tilgate Nature Centre, now known as Tilgate Zoo, is a BIAZA-accredited zoo located within the beautiful Tilgate Park in Crawley, West Sussex. Home to 74 different animal species, the zoo is organised into distinct geographical zones including African, European and Domestic, Australasian, and Madagascan areas, housing an impressive range of animals such as kangaroos, wallabies, ring-tailed lemurs, servals, reindeer, barn owls, and crested porcupines. The zoo specialises in species that are often overlooked in larger collections, including the gundi, marabou stork, and peach-throated monitor, and participates in international breeding programmes for critically important animals such as the Northern bald ibis, Asian short-clawed otter, and Andean condor. Visitor experiences include public talks and feeds, Meet the Meerkats sessions, Junior Keeper for a Day, and Tapir Time encounters. Educational visits, birthday parties, and animal adoptions make Tilgate Zoo a rewarding destination for families and wildlife enthusiasts across the South East.
