Tybee Island Marine Science Center

The Tybee Island Marine Science Center is a dynamic coastal education center located on Tybee Island, Georgia, offering families, school groups, and visitors an engaging exploration of Georgia's rich marine life and coastal ecology. The facility features several live-animal galleries housing an eclectic mix of species including baby alligators, loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings, diamondback terrapins, stingrays, horseshoe crabs, spider crabs, polka-dot batfish, corn snakes, and box turtles. Hands-on touch tanks, interactive exhibits exploring Gray's Reef, a fossil room, an outdoor amphitheater, an underground sea turtle rehabilitation area, and a pirate ship playground create a wonderfully immersive visit. The center raises rescued loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings for three years before releasing them at a larger size to improve their survival in the wild, underscoring its genuine commitment to coastal conservation.
